Yoga and my need for peace.

Yoga and my need for peace.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to yoga and taken to regular classes from when I was 13 years old.

Alison, a teaching colleague and great friend to my Mum, offered to take me along to the class she attended with her daughter Indira.

I loved it. I loved each move (Asana) and I particularly enjoyed the relaxation (Shavasana) at the end of each class.

There was a peacefulness that stayed with me for a day or two after each class. Yoga accessed something in me that I couldn’t access in any other way.

Over the years there has definitely been gaps in my regular yoga practice. However, whenever I’ve relocated I’ve always made it a priority to find a local class. Britt Shaw was another excellent yoga teacher I found  in Elgin, sadly, she’s no longer here - but for the last 6 years I’ve been working in person and 1:1 on line with a fantastic teacher who is also based in Morayshire, called Sabrina Meckel.

I’m not sure how I’d have survived this long without yoga practice in my life. It’s my ‘go to’ whenever I feel that need to ground myself and reconnect my body and mind to a more harmonious place.

If you’ve not tried yoga I’d encourage you to find a local in person class you could attend at least once a week.

Commit to going for a month and topping up with some practice at home alone. Keep a journal from before you start every day to the end of your first months trial - you’ll be surprised how subtly your body and mind embrace this ancient philosophy and practice.

I’d love to hear how you get on!

With love,

Kathleen x
